Lightsource bp Sells 130 MWp Solar Project in Portugal to Exus Renewables

News

Lightsource bp has sold its 130 MWp ready-to-build solar project in Portugal, the Cibele solar farm, to Exus Renewables. The sale marks a step in Exus’ expansion of its renewable energy portfolio in Iberia.

Located in Rio Maior and Cadaval, the project is designed with hybridization potential, allowing for the future integration of wind energy. Construction is set to begin in the coming months, with the facility expected to begin operations in 2026.

Victor López, Head of M&A at Exus, said, “This acquisition strengthens Exus' position as a key independent power producer in Europe and advances our efforts towards a more sustainable future.”

Miguel Lobo, Country Head for Portugal at Lightsource bp, said that the transaction underscores the role of partnerships in accelerating the renewable energy transition. Lightsource bp, a global leader in the development and management of utility-scale renewable energy projects, is continuing to expand in Portugal, with over 2.5 GW of capacity in its development pipeline. Exus Renewables specializes in the development and operation of large-scale renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and battery storage, and provides asset management services for third-party projects.
